Hey morons - get a Life.

    To All Other human beings:

Does This Board unlock The Tbreds Multiplier wise?

I am sorry if you are upset because I point out errors in your posts, #32. It is not that I think I am smart, it is that these things just pop out at me. In the sentence that begins with "Good lord," a comma should go between "forum" and "so" to separate the clauses. Hope this helps. Talk to you soon!

Man, can't you come up with anything new? Your posts all follow the same formula:

Step 1: A sarcastic response to my post
Step 2: Repeat whatever I said in my post (i.e. state the obvious
    Step 3: A useless suggestion

Your excessive use of sarcasm has reached the point of making me sick. I wonder if you're like this in real life... makes me feel sorry for the people around you. At the same time, I find it pretty funny too because I bet you really do think you're smart, and you're probably trying to prove it to everyone all the time. That was probably how this whole thing started. You wanted to prove me wrong for being "cold and rude" and show everyone who reads these comments how righteous you are, and by being sarcastic show them how "intelligent" you are. I'm sorry buddy, but we're no longer in high school; it takes much more than knowing how to use sarcasm to show you're intelligent. You probably didn't expect a response after patting yourself on the back for making your original comment, and now you're struggling like mad to try and save whatever face you have left. HAHA I hope that in your next post, you'll try and be a little more original, because quite frankly, you're getting pretty boring and predictable.

Oh yes, instead of making multiple posts, I'll just keep everything all in one post.

PUAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA You must be flaming mad because I'm so "stupid" and ruined your little plan.

And now everyone, here is Mr. Hypocrite once again:

"This is not my definition of professionalism, so I choose to discontinue my dialog with someone who cannot maintain a professional discourse."

Good lord, I don't want to insult anyone else in this forum so I won't question your sexuality, aight? Have a nice weekend!!!

    BAHAHHAHAHAAHAA!!!!!!!!!!

In response to your post as #28, I am flattered, but at the same time somewhat embarrassed, by the high regard in which you hold me. I appreciate it.

While all of your posts are truly gems, I found your last as #30 to be particularly valuable. It is a significant improvement over your post as #29, where you chose to simply copy a sentence from a prior post of mine. Further, I am very pleased that I have been able to encourage you to desist from your use of vulgarity as your means of expression in a professional context.

As to what my point was, please reread my previous posts the next time you are looking for sentences to copy. Hope to hear from you soon!

puhahahhahaa, couldn't resist, could you? To be totally honest now, I really look up to you and think you're really smart, so I'd love to continue responding to you and proving your initial point. I mean god, this is just so great, isn't it? I hope you keep responding. =)

So um... what was your original point? Dude I totally missed it, if you could enlighten me please? I'm not as intelligent as you, so if you'd just remind me what it was, I'd be extremely grateful. Okay, I think that's about it, can't wait for your response. ;)
  • Anonymous User - Saturday, September 13, 2003 - link

I am sorry you misundertood my last post, #26. I meant that it was no fun because it was boring, not because I was impressed with your continued vulgarity. However, it is difficult to resist when I know you will just keep posting as long as I do, particularly when you prove my initial point with every message you write. Looking forward to your next post . . .
  • Anonymous User - Saturday, September 13, 2003 - link

Aw, poor baby, so it's no longer fun for you? I guess it's no fun when the person you're being an asshole to gives you back the same treatment. I hope you had fun counting and numbering my sentences though... that must have been quite a task. I mean, I had trouble following along with your description of my mistakes, and I had the benefit of someone already numbering them out for me. Of course, I'm not as smart as you are, so maybe that's why I had difficulty. Anyhow, I hope you will stop being a hypocrite and actually *do* the things you will say you will (discontinue your dialog, for example). Oh, and uh, lighten up!!! =)
  • Anonymous User - Saturday, September 13, 2003 - link

#24 As noted in my post as #22, I have continued to post because it was fun. It has now ceased being so. I am particularly taken aback by your use of vulgarity in what you acknowledge is a professional site. This is not my definition of professionalism, so I choose to discontinue my dialog with someone who cannot maintain a professional discourse. At the same time, I find it moderately amusing that you have adopted a sarcastic tone (e.g., "poor, hurt feelings" Evan) after having derided me earlier for posting sarcastically.

Finally, I must confess that I find your posts difficult to follow because of your incorrect omission of commas. For your benefit, I want to point out that commas should go between "site" and "and" and between "comment" and "I" in the third sentence; between "hurt" and "anyway" in the fifth; and between "words" and "my" in the thirteenth. You also have omitted a word, a required conjunction, in the fourteenth sentence. Please take the time to make your posts more readable. Thanks. haha
  • Anonymous User - Saturday, September 13, 2003 - link

Oh, so since I'm anonymous, I'm not a human being with feelings? Your behavior is completely unjustifiable because for one, it was only *your* opinion that my original post was cold and rude, and for two, I really don't think Mr. Lieb would give a shit even if I *was* cold and rude. This is a professional site and based on his response to my original comment I believe Mr. Lieb is also a professional who acted appropriately to a legitimate comment about his work. I really doubt that you're the difference-maker who makes Mr. Lieb feel good about the work he has done. Who told you that his feelings were hurt anyway? Are you Mr. Lieb's big brother or something? I'm simply amazed at how you can assume so many things based on my original comment. Egregious? That's frickin' hilarious. How the heck did you deduce that from my little comment? I mean, LISTEN TO YOURSELF. "After my first post, I have to admit that I just kept going because I was having fun..." Do you not see the hypocrisy in your words my son? You preach sensitivity and the sparing of feelings, you rush to the defense of "poor, hurt feelings" Evan, yet you enjoy acting like an asshole to others. The best part is when you tell me to lighten up, and then you tell me to be more sensitive. So which one is it? This whole thing started because *you* were overly sensitive about my comment, so maybe *you're* the one who should lighten up.

I wonder when the mods will delete these useless comments, or whether they're getting a good laugh out of them. haha!
  • Anonymous User - Saturday, September 13, 2003 - link

In all sincerity, I initially posted #13 because I thought your original post was rather cold and rude. As a result, I wanted to help Evan laugh it off and feel good about the work he had done. I think that sometimes when we are in a forum such as this, we forget that the people receiving our comments and criticisms are human beings with feelings. I find this particularly inappropriate when they are identifiable by name, as is the case for Evan (but not for you or me). I would have preferred to see something like, "Hey, great review, but you had a typo." At least then you spare the person's feelings, and are ultimately more successful in getting your point across if you truly believe that the omission of a word is such an egregious error.

After my first post, I have to admit that I just kept going because I was having fun since you appeared to respond to every post I made. In terms of making everyone miserable, please review the posts above and see if you can find anyone else complaining. In closing, lighten up. I encourage you to think before you post (advice that equally applies to me and others) and try to be more sensitive.
  • Anonymous User - Saturday, September 13, 2003 - link

Oh, and yes, Evan, I just meant to point out that you were missing a word in that sentence. I take back what I said about you not caring, because I had read your comment #14 before #11. I was just a little bit upset with the rudeness of #13. Keep up the good work!
  • Anonymous User - Saturday, September 13, 2003 - link

Wow, you really need to get a life. Did you even have a point to make in your original post #13? Or are you just here to make things miserable for everyone? Talk about taking things to the extreme...
  • Anonymous User - Saturday, September 13, 2003 - link

#18 Cease! Desist! I surrender. I concede. You win. You are right. I apologize.

P.S. When beginning a sentence with a clause that starts with because, you should separate the clause from the remainder of the sentence with a comma. The truth is that you forgot the comma.
  • Anonymous User - Saturday, September 13, 2003 - link

To #18: Again, I really don't see why you have to be so sarcastic. This is a page for making comments and a comment about a "minor" typographical error is still a comment. If there are rules against making observations like the one I made, then please point me to it so I won't repeat it. Because of your tone and attitude I am explicitly *not* going to share my thoughts on the content of the review with you, but I doubt that you were serious when you were saying that anyway. I just don't see why you have to get so worked up about a little comment. Even the author didn't say anything about it, because as you said, it's a "minor" error that's easily corrected. It was just that at the time I read the article, it was incorrect. Finally, unlike you all my comments have been honest and sincere, and I maintain that I have taken the high road in response to your blatant sarcasm. The truth is you did omit an "s" in your comment, and I was merely stating a fact (and not being sarcastic) as well as demonstrating to you that some people do in fact notice these things.
  • Anonymous User - Saturday, September 13, 2003 - link

Thank you, #17, for your observation as to my omission of the letter "s" in my previous post as #13. I have no problem with acknowledging errors when I make them and I appreciate your bringing this to my attention. At the same time, I am pleased to see that I may have been helpful to you. In contrast to your initial comment as #5, you actually discussed the content of my post rather than focusing exclusively on a minor typographical error. It seems that progress has been made! I welcome reading any thoughts you may have as to the content of the review of the Abit KV7.

P.S. If you were trying to take the high road, you seem to have abandoned it with your P.S. Cheers!
  • Anonymous User - Friday, September 12, 2003 - link

#13, there is no need to be sarcastic. I don't understand why you're so offended by my pointing out a simple grammatical error. I did not take any time to carefully proofread the article, as you put it. I encountered it on my first read. As a news and review website, I believe that AnandTech.com should at least make an effort to write articles that are free of errors and I was merely trying to point out a mistake in case it was missed by the author and/or the editor. Based on #14's response, however, I doubt that the author cares very much about this issue. I was very tempted to take #13's sarcasm route but I think I'll take the high road here. Thank you for taking the time to read my comments.

P.S. #13, you spelled "consistent" incorrectly. Sorry, I'm just an astute reader, these things pop out at me.

About the mentioning about a natural increased voltage fluctuations at "certain values", is there a good rundown of around what specific values those values would be? Perhaps it might be worthwile to raise the voltage by a 0.025 increment if less fluctuation could be achieved.
  • Anonymous User - Tuesday, September 9, 2003 - link

Evan, thanks for helping out on the FSB/RAM question. It seems that when setting the FSB with a manual option then the RAM frequency is kept in sync at all times, regardless of what the separate DRAM speed setting is set to. It's reassuring to be able to confirm such things with CPU-z.
  • Evan Lieb - Tuesday, September 9, 2003 - link

Haha, thanks for clarifying that #13. ;)

    Take care,

    Evan
  • Anonymous User - Tuesday, September 9, 2003 - link

I think #5 is referring to the apparent omission of the word "look" in the sentence. I congratulate #5 on taking the time to carefully proofread the article in search of typographical errors. As I was more focused on the substance of the review (which I thought was excellent, conistent with my general experience with Anandtech), I missed this major point that seriously affected the readability of the entire article! :)
  • Evan Lieb - Tuesday, September 9, 2003 - link

Oh, forgot to comment on a couple other things.

#1, Anand does more than you'll ever know. Right now he's been relegated to two things: 1) Technology reviews, which he is best suited for because he is easily the most well versed AnandTech editor. And 2) administrative duties such as hiring new editors (Andrew Ku, Wesley Fink, and more people you'll hear about soon), getting the products and content editors need, and just running the web site (which includes a countless list of things).

#3, set your FSB to 175MHz (350MHz DDR), set your DRAM speed to DDR400, download CPU-Z v. 1.18, and then look in the memory section and see what your memory is running at. Your memory should adjust itself accordingly to its FSB.
  • Evan Lieb - Tuesday, September 9, 2003 - link

#10, I was unaware that ABIT has that policy. I'll have to confirm that with them. Even if that is the case, other motherboard makers do the same thing, and quite honestly it's not that big of a deal IMO.

#5, how is that sentence not readable? Do you have any suggestions?

    Take care,

    Evan

#7, they're not charging for standard shipping, just the upgrade to express, which is understandable and was only in my message for info (since it wasn't included in the review). I even don't have a major problem with the $7 "processing fee", but to charge $150 ahead-of-time and then the additional time of waiting for the "check is in the mail" refund seems to be less of a good policy compared to other's policy of charging only if the defective unit isn't returned with 30 days.
  • Anonymous User - Monday, September 8, 2003 - link

#7, what he explained is a quite common thing on nForce2 motherboards, especially among advanced users. I cower in fear everytime I update my bios or drivers fearing either my system or board will be hosed. You never know when you'll download that bios or driver that will just decide to kill everything (*cries about having to repair install windows xp after installing 2.41 and again 2.42, as if I didn't learn my lesson first time :P*).

Granted most of these problems disappear if you leave your system alone and stick to the 2.03 driver set (if you can stand the little quirks about it), the occurrence of such problems are seemingly less in the latest VIA chipsets.
  • Anonymous User - Monday, September 8, 2003 - link

#6, I (#3) did not want to run FSB/RAM asynchronously. I want to run it in sync no matter what the FSB is set to, but the board has no clear setting for that. The available RAM settings are 266, 333, 400 and SPD in wich it goes with whatever the RAM module is rated to run at. There is no setting to simply let it follow the FSB as in all other boards I have ever encountered. I could guess that it does in fact follow the FSB anyway, but have no way to confirm it. Especially when the BIOS reports one of those set RAM speeds when booting up, regardless of FSB frequency. (I know of the AGP/PCI business but it's irrelevant to this specific technical issue)
  • Anonymous User - Monday, September 8, 2003 - link

#2, of course ABIT is going to charge for shipping, it's ridiculous to think they're going to eat those fees.

And by the way #4, nForce2 motherboards are much better than KT600 motherboards in general. This is fact, why try to deny it by claiming your experience is the norm. Idiot.
  • Anonymous User - Monday, September 8, 2003 - link

    to 3

there's no need to run amd based systems FSB/mem async, it doesn't get you more speed. you'd better manipulate with multiplier. if you raise your CPU's FSB the mem/agp/pci come all along. for example if you raise your kt600 fsb to 220 your mem speed will also be 220MHz (you can't run it on pc2100 or 2700 levels to normalize your mem speed, but only on pc3200 mode) and yor agp/pci will be 73,5MHz/36,7MHz.

for example, I'm running my kt333 at 200FSB and my agp/pci is 80/40. and I cant understand how come anantech guys only got out maximum of 210 mHz fsb, i belive some peolple here need to learn more about overclocking. I've got even 215MHz of FSB out of my kt333. isn't that strange? has there been a downward evolution by VIA.

"Anyway, today we take a close at ABIT's latest creation, the KV7."

Please take the time to make your articles more readable. Thank you.
  • Anonymous User - Monday, September 8, 2003 - link

I am getting tired of the constant advocacy of NForce2 Motherboards. I personally bought an NF7-S 2.0 and I consider it a lemon. I have since returned to the Soyo KT333 based solution I used to use. I still have never seen the BSOD under that board. I wish I could say the same for NForce NForce implements far to much of its functionality in software to be rock-hard trouble-free. VIA implements almost everything in hardware, making it the most durable, reliable, dependable and trouble-free platform around.
  • Anonymous User - Monday, September 8, 2003 - link

A nice review of a nice board. I got me one and don't regret passing over the nForce alternatives. VIAs drivers are hassle free nowadays, whereas certain others are still struggling to even make releases.

I have a question though on something that you could perhaps clarify. The RAM speed settings in the BIOS does not seem to have a setting for "same as FSB" if you get my meaning. If I raise the FSB to say 210 and leave the RAM speed setting to "DDR 400", what actually happens with the RAM frequency? Is there some way to verify that it does follow the FSB speed? I'm curious since running FSB and RAM frequency out of sync with eachother has typically been somewhat detrimental to performance on Athlon DDR boards.
  • Anonymous User - Monday, September 8, 2003 - link

This review fails to state the complete RMA policy for ABIT. If you are missing your sales receipt, there's a $25 charge. If you want to cross-ship, there's a $7 charge for processing, plus $15 if you want 2nd-day instead of ground, plus they will charge you $150 (that's actually a charge up front via Paypal, not just a charge if they don't receive the bad one), and if the motherboard is received by them in good condition, then they'll refund the $150 by company check.
  • Anonymous User - Monday, September 8, 2003 - link

Im very happy to see more staff besides Wesley starting to contribute again. Anandtech article rate has increased dramatically since Wesley came on board, I just wish Anand would do something. He's like a shadow in the wells doing nothing.
