At the lower resolutions, Matrox almost drops off the face of the earth barely beating the Savage4 PRO+. The poor performance is most likely related to driver issues with their current OpenGL ICD, however Matrox isn't known for their high quality OpenGL ICD development so we'll have to wait and see if anything develops with that. On the other hand, 800 x 600 is on its way out as a playable resolution, so there's really no reason to invest time in investigating performance. 3dfx's weakness continues to be its poor OpenGL ICD as the performance with the MiniGL driver is over twice as fast as with the OpenGL ICD.
